Resort lounges at Male Airport
Most islands that have seaplane transfers will also have Resort Lounges at Male Airport, so that you can wait in comfort whilst your seaplane is being prepared, or you are waiting for other passengers to arrive before departing. As a general rule, most things in the lounge are complimentary, with the exception of premium alcohol and some meals.
On arrival to Maldives, once through customs, you will find an area with stands for each of the islands. Go to the island you are booked on and they will guide you. If you have a seaplane flight, you will be taken in a minibus to the resort lounges. Some islands will share a lounge, particularly if they are owned by the same group.
At the lounge you can relax, read a book, refresh yourself with a cooling towel, enjoy a drink and snack, while awaiting the onward part of the journey. Some of the lounges will even offer a shoulder and head massage or a facial. A scenic flight over the islands, looking down on the islands, in their turquoise water, is the start on your holiday in the Maldives.
When traveling on a seaplane, your luggage limit is 20Kg. If there is no room for all the cases, some may be put on to the next flight and catch up with you later. Seaplane flights stop at dusk. It is advisable to be on a flight that arrives before 3.00pm, to allow you time to get out of the airport and to the lounge. If you arrive to late you will need to spend a night at Hulhule Airport Hotel, before setting of the next day.
